Sober Story - Joseph Morales

I was a slave to my disease and only by the grace of God did I manage to get out alive

I am sober from alcohol, cocaine and amphetamines.

December 8th will make 15 beautiful and amazing months of sobriety for me! I’ve been able to pursue my college education as a graphic designer and front end developer. The biggest struggle I am facing in my sobriety is finding out more about who I am. My likes and my dislikes. It’s like a whole new person has been unearthed and I just feel really, really raw right now. My suggestion to anyone struggling with the disease of addiction is to get yourself into a treatment center or a some other program if you can.

There are so many services and groups you can join! For me going to rehab was the best decision I made in my entire life! I can say that I was becoming more and more morally and spiritually corrupt the longer I stayed in my addiction. As long as I had my drugs and alcohol it didn’t matter what the price was.

I was a slave to my disease and only by the grace of God did I manage to get out alive.
